What the Bible says about Jesus

The True Light "In him, (the Lord Jesus) was life, and that life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it. The true light that gives light to every man was coming into the world,…the world didn’t recognize him." John 1:4,9.
The Good Seed and the Weeds The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seeds in his field. But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat and went away. Matthew 13:24,25.

Imam insulted Christians, Jews in National Cathedral

Imam insulted Christians, Jews in National Cathedral

Islam is hard-wired with a “conquering” mentality that dates back to its earliest days, says a noted author, and that mentality was on display Friday at the Washington National Cathedral.
Even in a service billed as a symbolic olive branch to Christianity, celebrated inside an iconic church, Islam’s air of supremacy could not help but leak out, says Dr. Andrew Bostom, author of several books on Islam including “The Legacy of Jihad: Islamic Holy War and the Fate of Non-Muslims” in 2005 and “The Legacy of Islamic Antisemitism: From Sacred Texts to Solemn History” in 2008.

Not that anyone in the Episcopal cathedral cared to notice.
“After viewing Friday’s ostensible exercise in ‘ecumenism’ at the National Cathedral, it is impossible for me to discern whether the Christian event organizers are more ethically, or intellectually cretinous,” writes Bostom in his blog at AndrewBostom.org.
Bostom is an associate professor of medicine at Brown University Medical School and author of four exhaustive studies on Islam.

  1. It is a proof of honesty to quote all of a verse and respect for the one who inspired it or wrote it down , whether it be in the Bible or in any other book. Otherwise, quoting half the verse that suits us in our purpose of deceiving our uneducated, ignorant or uncaring audience becomes disingenuous and a hypocritical pretense misleading others while posing as a religious authority.

Unfortunately, It happens all the time when Christians quote the Bible out of context or pick and choose which part will seemingly strengthen their empty and false argument.

  2. The 1/2 verse in question quoted by the Imam from the Koran is Surat 5:82. Here is a rebuttal from "Answering Islam" site: http://www.answering-islam.org/index.html

    Responses to Answering Christianity

Allegation of Allah not being able to decide as to who Muslims could have as friends.

I am not sure of the question that Mr Ali is attempting to answer in this section. The Qur'an is very clear that Muslims cannot be friends with Jews and Christians. Muhammad, being a master of situational ethics, had proper relations with both communities only when it served his purposes. When these people did not convert to Islam and were no longer of any use to Muhammad, his attitude towards, and treatment of, them changed dramatically.

Can we be the friends of Christains and Jews? An allegation thrown by Christianity that carries no weight. If you read the response you will see that the writer of the allegation is lacking in knowledge of the Quran and History of Islam.

"Thou shalt certainly find the Jews and those who associate partners with God to be the most vehement in enemity against the believers. And thou shall assuredly find those who say, 'We are Christains', to be the nearest of them in love to the believers. That is because amongst them are the savants and monks and because they are not proud" (chapter 5 verse 83)

First, we are Christians, not "Christains". Second, we need to have a correct quote from the Qur'an:

    Sura 5:82-83
Strongest among men in enmity to the believers wilt thou find the Jews and Pagans; and nearest among them in love to the believers wilt thou find those who say, "We are Christians": because amongst these are men devoted to learning and men who have renounced the world, and they are not arrogant. : And when they listen to the revelation received by the Messenger, thou wilt see their eyes overflowing with tears, for they recognise the truth: they pray: "Our Lord! we believe; write us down among the witnesses.

This verse should not be construed to prohibit or discourage just or benevolant treatment of the Jews, Christains and other disbelievers.
This verse says, in effect, that Jews, Pagans, and Christians who do not convert to Islam are the enemy.
