What the Bible says about Jesus

The True Light "In him, (the Lord Jesus) was life, and that life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it. The true light that gives light to every man was coming into the world,…the world didn’t recognize him." John 1:4,9.
The Good Seed and the Weeds The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seeds in his field. But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat and went away. Matthew 13:24,25.

Gift Of Prophecy - Q´s and As

Grace Trough Faith / Ask a teacher

Q.  What is prophecy? How do people prophesy, and are there still prophets today? I ask this because I think I have the gift of prophecy but I’m not sure.  I’ve asked God about it, and I think He’s told me yes.  It’s just that sometimes, I know things that are going to happen and that they are true. I have no idea how to explain it except for that. Please help!

A. Simply put, prophecy is history, told in advance. In Old Testament times God chose prophets to speak for Him so His people could know what He was doing. Also, since He often told them things that hadn’t happened yet, when those things came to pass it proved that He was who He claimed to be, since only God can accurately predict the future all the time.

Since the New Testament He has spoken to us through His Son, (Hebrews 1:1-2) who inspired the New Testament writers to give us the Scriptures.  Even so, some believers receive the gift of prophecy as Paul taught in 1 Cor. 12:7-11. The purpose of this gift is to “fill in the blanks” in God’s revealed word by giving supporting information as to how God’s plan will be fulfilled in various situations. Accordingly all prophecy given today has to be consistent with and validated by God’s Word. This is what makes the New Testament gift of prophecy different than the Old Testament office of Prophet.

I believe someone with the gift of prophecy would know by testing his or her prophecies against actual events. In Old Testament times Prophets were required to be 100% accurate.  Check yourself and see how you do.

Rapture References - Jack Kelley

A Bible Study by Jack Kelley
Recently I was challenged to make a list of all the passages in the Bible that hint of a pre-trib rapture. As you may know I believe Paul was the first person on Earth to present a clear pre-trib teaching, about 20 years after the cross. Before that time it was unknown because Jesus didn’t teach it to His other disciples during their time together. And since the Olivet Discourse is directed at Israel, there’s no mention of it there either, even though the end times is in view. Israel will not participate in the rapture.

Now I’ll be the first to admit that doing this requires that you already have a working knowledge of the pre-trib position, because without it you wouldn’t recognize some of these references as being pertinent to the subject. But ever since Paul revealed the rapture, scholars have been seeing hints of it here and there, even in the Old Testament.

Before we begin, in 1 Cor. 2:6-8 Paul explained why God’s plans for the Church had been kept secret until after the crucifixion. He said that if the rulers of this age (Satan & Co.) had understood all that God intended for us they would not have crucified the Lord. Not that they could have stopped it, of course. But had they known God was going to use the murder of His Son to save us all, they wouldn’t have gone ahead with it, and in fact would have tried to prevent it. It wasn’t until He was on the cross that they discovered the Lord’s death was going to become payment in full for all our sins, so instead of it being cause for a great celebration it totally disarmed them and made them into a public spectacle (Colossians 2:13-15). Then, 20 years later, they learned about the rapture.

These were both things that God had planned from the beginning, but a good general keeps his strategy a secret in order to take his enemy by surprise, so God didn’t let Satan (or anyone else) know about these things until it was too late for him to react. Even now, Satan doesn’t know when the rapture is coming. All he knows is what we know, that each new believer could be the last one, the one that takes us all out of here and beyond his reach forever.

I’m convinced that God’s plan requires the Church to disappear before Daniel’s 70th week begins. Remember, the Lord set aside 70 weeks (490 years) for Israel to accomplish 6 things. (Daniel 9:24) At the end of 69 weeks (483 years) Jesus was crucified, the clock suddenly stopped, and Israel disappeared along with its Temple and Old Covenant worship. Daniel’s prophecy was left incomplete and from that time on, God’s focus was on the church.

The reappearance of Israel in 1948, the promised rebuilding of a Temple, and the resumption of Levitical sacrifice during the 70th week make it clear that the Church didn’t end the dispensation of Law but only interrupted it seven years short of its intended duration. We would all agree that if the introduction of a dam into a stream of water interrupts its flow, then it’s reasonable and logical to conclude that removal of the dam will be necessary for the flow to resume. Therefore if the introduction of the Church after the 69th week of Daniels prophecy caused the interruption in its fulfillment, it’s reasonable and logical to conclude that the Church will have to be removed before the final seven years of the dispensation of Law can run their course and Daniel’s prophecy can be fulfilled.

Recently translated Iranian military textbook suggests nuclear EMP attack on UnitedStates power grid

Recently translated Iranian military textbook suggests nuclear EMP attack on United States power grid

Author

If you only get your news from watching Obama speeches, you know Iran as the peace loving nation that doesn’t want anything to do with nuclear weapons because using them would be “against their religion.” With that in mind, you’re not worried about Obama’s plan to place them directly on the path to a nuke. Since they’re too pious to ever consider dropping the bomb, why not grant them access?

That’s ludicrous for a whole host of reasons but, nonetheless, it’s exactly the malarkey that the President and his allies have been spewing. Just for fun, let’s pretend they’re right. Iran won’t nuke anyone because that would be “naughty” and they’re nothing if not above board in their international dealings.

Unfortunately for the President, if one of their recently translated military manuals is correct, they have ways around their pesky religious anxieties. According to the book, an atmospheric detonation that results in a power-grid and network destroying electromagnetic pulse is A-OK.

As the Washington Examiner reports:
The issue of a nuclear EMP attack was raised in the final hours of this week’s elections in Israel when U.S. authority Peter Vincent Pry penned a column for Arutz Sheva warning of Iran’s threat to free nations.

“Iranian military documents describe such a scenario — including a recently translated Iranian military textbook that endorses nuclear EMP attack against the United States,” he wrote.

A knowledgeable source said that the textbook discusses an EMP attack on America in 20 different places.
Arizona Republican Rep. Trent Franks, who is leading an effort to protect the U.S. electric grid from an EMP attack, has recently made similar claims based on the document translated by military authorities.

Once sneered at by critics, recent moves by Iran and North Korea have given credibility to the potential EMP threat from an atmospheric nuclear explosion over the U.S.
We’re sure that any response to the above would employ all the standard tropes that liberals love, so we’ll outline their oh-so-elegant arguments for you:
  1. This is just Republican and Zionist fear mongering.
  2.
  3. You’re part of the military industrial complex and you want more war.
  4.
  5. This non-legally-binding unenforceable non-treaty is totally going to get us “something” in return. No we’re not going tell you what that is.
  6.
  7. We’re going to do inspections! Iran always complies with inspections!
  8.
  9. Iran is technologically inferior and “way over there” so constructing and delivering such a device is beyond them.
  10.
  11. Despite that, Iran is probably going to get a bomb anyway. So don’t worry about it.
  12.
  13. You’re an idiot. Shut up.
Not one of these pat answers manages to explain why we should knowingly enter into a “deal” with a terrorist nation that culminates in their acquisition of a weapon they’d love to use against us.

...But if you’re making that point, you’ll be directed to number 7.

Do you want to enter into that “rest” which remaineth for the people of the Lord? Commentary & Video

Is this awesome promise from the book of Hebrews chapter 4, merely something to be realized at some future date, when the trials of this world are over? No, it is not.  This is a promise for us now, in this life, in this present world, even in its present state!

And not only is it a promise God longs for us to see come to fulfillment in our individual walk, but there is an actual warning that we should not fail to enter into this rest, for there is some risk involved in failing to do so. It is the sin of unbelief and disobedience.  The same which resulted in Moses being denied the right to enter into Canaan because he struck the rock, rather than speaking to it that second time.

This is a multi-part series, and I can’t think of a better topic to focus on right now.  I do not want this blog to be only about the gloom and doom of what we see coming.  That stuff promises to lead to “men’s hearts failing them for fear and for looking upon those things which are coming upon the Earth”.  But God has not given His people a spirit of fear.
If you are the fretting type, this is a series you need to watch.  Take notes, and take it to heart, because there is a fine line between resting in “wishful thinking” and resting in the promises of God. You can’t rest in them, if you don’t know them.  Have you ever wished for a “stronger faith”?  Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing cometh by the Word.

Few preachers preach about this “rest”, (maybe because they have a hard time getting people to “get busy”), but true rest is the epitome of “letting go and letting God”.  If you want more faith, read more Bible.  Learn more Bible.  Study more Bible.  Get it inside you.  Memorizing is great, but I think that the person who knows the Word best, (and benefits from it most) is one who spends ample time immersed in the Word, absorbing it to such a degree it becomes a part of them, familiar as their own reflection in a mirror.  It is called the bread of life, our spiritual “manna”, and no “portion control” at all is necessary.

While Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had been trailing his Zionist Union opponent in the polls leading up to the elections, the real-time results on Wednesday morning show the Likud leader enjoying a major advantage over the left-wing's Isaac Herzog.
The exit polls conducted by three major Israeli television channels showed a slender Likud lead over its rival, with a one seat margin of victory, while the partial returns counted by 6 am have Netanyahu with a six seat lead on the Zionist Union, at 30 and 24.
